I was consistently impressed with the staff’s high level of engagement with the class, coupled with how tuned in they seemed with each individual child. I attribute much of that to Becky’s experience in early childhood education and her commitment to the children’s development and overall well being. I was not prepared for how much that would extend outward and positively impact our entire family.

Never in a million years did I expect to see kids walking out of pre-k reading, writing, problem solving math, and having a deep understanding of self regulation and friendship. Not only did that happen for my daughter but I watched it happen with her peers. I told a family recently who will be attending in the fall that TCIAJ will feel like home to them and I think that sums up how much my family loves this school!

Hi Becky! I want to say a few words about you to help families know why they are so lucky if they get the chance to send their kids to your new school. We still look back at our preschool care as one of the most fortuitous and foundational times in our kids' lives. Your boundless energy and enthusiasm, not to mention your passion for preschool itself, nurtured a love of science, a love of schooling, and an understanding of compassion for all living things. My kids were not the only beneficiaries - all the kids over the years have been positively impacted and influenced in these ways, resulting in a network of more compassionate and knowledge-thirsty youth. Now, as my kids enter their teens, these impacts continue to resound through our community. We see our friends and neighbors struggling through these difficult and polarizing times, but also see the understanding and awareness shared by their preschool classmates. Becky Sargis connected with me in a way that no other teacher has. She was not only my pre-school and kindergarten teacher, but my mentor. Mrs. Becky helped me discover my love for science back then, and to this day, she inspires me to increase my knowledge of the sciences and follow my dreams to become a marine biologist. Without Mrs. Becky's guidance and the love of learning that she instilled in me when I was little, my interests in school could have been dramatically different. And it is not just me; she treats all of her students, no matter how young, as individuals. She listens to their needs and encourages them to follow their passions. I am now an eighth grader, and to this day, we still talk. This just shows that she was not only an amazing teacher and advisor, but a lifelong friend. K
Ms. Becky and Ms. Anna are a phenomenal team, and together they made my son's preschool years a joy. They laid a rock-solid foundation of confidence, competence and logical thinking that has allowed him to continue progressing by leaps and bounds, way beyond grade level in both reading and math. They nurtured creativity and friendships that persist long after he left their care (but not their thoughts). And both are so passionately dedicated to their students' well-being that it extends far beyond the classroom. No parent could ask for better teachers for their child's first school experience! My daughter attended a Montessori preschool with Mrs. Becky and Ms. Anna. I cannot say enough good things about her experience and learning in their classroom. The Town of Jericho is privileged to have The Children's Institute At Jericho as part of community. Our family has been touched, moved, and inspired by Mrs. Becky and Ms. Anna, as they cultivated and fostered learning, growing, imagination, exploting, investigating, and discovery within our child. Our day started off with our child being welcome at eye level, meeting face to face with them, thus setting the stage for each day. When our child entered the classroom/space, they felt engaged through the beautiful classroom/space and activities that allowed our child to explore. The compassion that they have is embodied in the mindfulness they teach, they cultivated this out of our child every day within the classroom/space, from eating to resolving conflicts, our child thrived in this environment and has continued to carry this forward. Their dedication to teaching is exemplified through my child's continued love for science, reading/books, numbers/ math, cooking, art, and ability to adapt to the ever-changing world. This is because Mrs. Becky and Ms. Anna created a space for our child to thrive, as they focused on our child and their individual needs. They will take the time to learn who your child is as a person and learner, and they will work hand in hand with you as a parent. Our child has prospered in elementary school and will continue to be successful in the future. Our child always felt safe while in the care of Mrs. Becky and Ms. Anna, we as parents always felt safe while our child was at school with them. They have the training needed to ensure the safety of your child. You can trust that they have every protocol in place for the protection of your child. If you chose to attend The Children's Institute At Jericho, expect to build a life-long relationship with the most outstanding teachers. Working for Becky has been a great experience. I have felt valued, supported and respected by her. Becky is kind and compassionate, with a bubbly and bright spirit. She is always willing to listen, always greets me with a smile, and takes the time to check in when she senses something might be off. Spending the day with little children can lead to a variety of emotional experiences- Becky gets this, and provides a safe space to share in that, which I have found especially important in this field. To be great in this field it takes someone who is not only passionate about education and holds the responsibility of caring for and guiding children with upmost importance - Becky does.
